What is a Chevrolet ad campaign if not one that takes to jesting at the ‘weaknesses’ of other automakers while showing off the merits of its own vehicles?
The Detroit brand has once again taken a pot shot at the Ford F-150 truck, and this time for its aluminum alloy bed.
A new ‘Real people. Not actors’ TV spot from Chevy (or GM) sought to test the relative durability of the steel-made bed of the Chevy Silverado against the aluminum alloy bed of the F-150.
Piles of bricks were dropped on the cargo area of both full-size trucks, and of course you know what the results would be. The Blue Oval best-seller was revealed to have way more damage to its bed compared to the Silverado, which only had minor dents and scratches.
Then the sharp edge of a toolbox was dropped on the bed of the F-150, which led to a puncture hole on its aluminum surface. It didn’t do as much damage on the Silverado.
Well, for those who want to get an F-150, let’s hope it doesn’t rain bricks in your area. And forget about getting a bed liner – who needs those, right?
